How Mediano Works

Our Mission

Medication prices in Switzerland can vary by up to 150% between pharmacies — even for the same product. Mediano exists to make these price differences transparent so you can make informed decisions.

We are independent and non-commercial. We have no affiliation with any pharmacy, pharmaceutical company, or health insurer.

Our Data Sources

Product information comes exclusively from official Swiss regulatory sources: Swissmedic (the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products) provides authorization data, Refdata supplies standardized product identifiers (GTINs), and Compendium.ch provides clinical monographs and product images.

Every medication listed on Mediano is a product officially authorized for sale in Switzerland by Swissmedic.

We currently cover over 15,000 non-prescription product packages across more than 6,700 brands.

How Prices Are Updated

Prices are collected daily from pharmacy websites through automated systems. This means the prices you see on Mediano reflect real retail pricing — not manufacturer list prices or estimates.

We currently compare prices across 750+ pharmacies throughout Switzerland, including both online and physical pharmacy locations.

How Search Works

Our search engine is optimized for pharmaceutical queries and delivers results in under 50 milliseconds. You can search by brand name (e.g., "Dafalgan"), active ingredient (e.g., "Paracetamolum"), or dosage form.

Search results include real-time price ranges and direct links to compare prices across pharmacies.

What We Don't Do

Mediano does not provide medical advice. We show prices, not recommendations. Always consult your pharmacist or doctor for medical guidance.

We do not sell medications, accept affiliate commissions, or share user data. Our service is funded independently and has no commercial partnerships with pharmacies.
